How much Bristol Rovers paid to agents last year as Sunderland and Coventry City fork out huge sums

Bristol Rovers paid almost £150,000 to agents in a 12-month period, almost £50,000 more than the previous year, according to Football Association figures.

The FA has published its annual report on intermediary fees, with the Gas paying player agents £141,006 from February 2019 to January 2020.

That sum ranks Rovers ninth in League One for spending on intermediaries, who are paid when their clients move clubs or agree a new contract.

Sunderland, unsurprisingly, top the league table by a huge margin. Their bill of £1.3million was almost a £1million greater than any other club in the division.

Coventry City and Ipswich Town's agent spending exceeded £300,00, with the league forking out close to £4million as a whole in payments to player representatives.

Rovers signed 15 players over the period, including Anssi Jaakkola, Tom Davies, Josh Barrett, Mark Little and James Daly.

The Pirates spent £96,852 over the same period from 2018-19, but on the whole League One's agent costs are down by more than £1.5million.
