The one uniting factor we share with our colleagues generally but one we don't feel comfortable talking about with them, is the question of our pay and whether we feel satisfied with the return for our work. Research would suggest that the majority of us are not.
So how do we make sure we get what we want?
First and foremost, as with everything, do your research, so that when you ask for a pay rise or negotiate a starting salary for a new position, you are asking for the market average and not wildly above it.
One of the simplest ways of working out the average pay is by checking job advertisements for positions similar to yours.
Your second step is to use our PayScale™ salary checker.
All data is entered anonymously, and is analysed using a number of factors including the type and size of organisation, experience, responsibilities, number of people managed and benefits.
Once you are sure of your sums you can start to build up a strong argument for a pay rise.
