How much are Love Island stars paid to take part? Cast salaries revealed

The highly-anticipated seventh season of Love Island finally premiered on June 28, revealing 13 new cast members ready to commit to possibly 49 episodes throughout the summer.

One might look at filming for approximately eight consecutive weeks as a regular job, and therefore, viewers might wonder if islanders do in fact, get paid for their time on-air.

It appears the contestants’ presence on the island truly is a summer job, as the islander indeed, get paid a weekly wage.

This wage is meant to cover the participants’ bills, rent and utilities at home whilst away. Here is everything you need to know about how much the cast members get paid while relaxing by the pool.

How much are Love Island contestants paid?

In 2018 contestants were reportedly paid £200 a week. As Love Island’s popularity grew, the weekly wage increased to £250 in 2019.

This year, the class of 2021 are expected to receive, again, £250 a week pay.

However, islanders also have the opportunity to win a total of £50,000 at the end of the series.

Once the favourite couple is voted by ITV2 viewers, one chosen islander is given the option to split or steal the money.

With no previous islander opting for the more selfish option, Love Islander winners have respectively walked out of the Majorca villa with £25,000 in the bag.

It is no secret that the reality TV show has significantly boosted the former contestants' fanbase, notably on social media.

Most islanders go on to make a good living from sponsored Instagram posts and profitable deals with various brands.

Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland, who came in second place on Love Island’s second season in 2016, respectively have an impressive estimated net worth of £4,500,000.

The married couple has landed their own reality TV show and has gone on to make a small fortune from advertisements on social media.

Molly-Mae Hague has also established a successful career as an influencer and entrepreneur.

Despite not winning Love Island’s fifth season, the 22-year-old ITV star went on to earn an estimated eye-watering £2,400,000 net worth.

She notably made millions following her deals with PrettyLittleThing and Beauty Works as well as creating her own fake tan line.

More often than not, ex-islanders sign astonishing deals with clothing lines, as well as sometimes, landing more TV gigs, such as Maura Higgins who has recently been announced as the presenter of Glow Up in Ireland.

Additionally, contestants almost always see their social media following dramatically increase after appearing on the dating show.

Inevitably, former participants get a chance to be able to charge hundreds of pounds for one single Instagram post.
