How Mohamed Salah leads current Premier League players and the next record he's hunting down

Everyone loves a screamer.

From players unleashing a vicious strike into the top corner from 30 yards or showcasing incredible feet to dance round defenders before cheekily putting the ball in the net - every single time a goal of this nature is scored you can guarantee the crowd rises to its feet in jubilation.

What is also almost guaranteed to happen when a player scores a goal worthy of being filed under the 'worldie' category is debate between fans and pundits alike to decide where it ranks in terms of the best goal ever scored.

With that, long-running BBC show Match of the Day hands out a Goal of the Month award every month for the best strike of the previous calendar period voted on by the public and their pundits before they decide on a Goal of the Season too.

Now, Paddy Power Games have taken a look at each of the 216 different players to win a Goal of the Month award from Match of the Day since the Premier League was former in 1992.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is the only man still playing in the domestic competition to have won more than two Goal of the Month awards.

The Egyptian attacker has been handed the accolade three times for his goals against Everton at Anfield in December 2017, Tottenham at Anfield in February 2018 and Chelsea at Anfield in April 2019.

Only five players have ever won more Goal of the Month awards than Salah in the Premier League era, Robin van Persie (three at Arsenal and three at Manchester United), Wayne Rooney (5), Ryan Giggs, Andy Cole and Ian Wright (all 4).

Other players to have won it three times include Alan Shearer, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Gareth Bale.

Liverpool have four players who have achieved two Goal of the Month awards - Fernando Torres, Daniel Sturridge, Mo Salah and Phillippe Coutinho.
