How Mohamed Salah can make Premier League history when Liverpool face Norwich City

Mohamed Salah is bidding to become the first ever player to score on the opening day of a Premier League season for a fifth year in succession.

The Liverpool forward has found the back of the net in the last four seasons during the first fixture of the campaign - a feat also achieved by Teddy Sheringham at Tottenham Hotspur (1992/93 - 1995/96).

Salah began this impressive streak on his debut for the club four years ago at Watford, slotting past goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes to put the Reds 3-1 up in the game.

The Egyptian international was on the scoresheet once again on the opening day of the 2018/19 campaign, putting Klopp's side ahead from close range against West Ham United after being picked out by Andy Robertson.

Liverpool's title-winning 2019/20 season began in style twelve months on from beating West Ham 4-0, with the Reds hitting four past Norwich City on a comfortable evening at Anfield.

Salah displayed effective footwork inside the penalty area and fired into the bottom left corner past goalkeeper Tim Krul to double the team's lead.

The Reds' habit of scoring for fun on the opening weekend continued for a third season last campaign, having earned a 4-3 triumph at home to Leeds United.

Liverpool's No.11 was on top form once again and bagged a hat-trick, courtesy of two penalties and a powerful half-volley that flew past the Whites' shot-stopper Illan Meslier.

Salah now has the chance to enter the record books should he find a goal against Norwich on Saturday afternoon.
