How Merseyside's biggest celebrities celebrated a very different New Year's Eve

Although this New Year's Eve was very different to what we're used to, Merseyside celebs still celebrated in style.

There were no large parties, gatherings or events but celebs still managed to ring in the new year in their own way.

Coleen Rooney shared an adorable image of herself with her four children, all in matching pyjamas, to mark the new year.

Writing on Instagram, she said: "Happy New Year from me and my NYE dates. I wish you all health and happiness for 2021.

"Let’s hope next year we can all safely party, dance, kiss, cuddle and bring in the New Year together with our friends and family."

Little Mix's Perrie Edwards and boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had their own private firework show, enjoying a cosy display just for the two of them.

Posting on her Instagram story, Perrie shared sparkling pictures of their firework show, while she and Alex enjoyed a night in together.

Liverpool FC team mate Fabinho shared a photo of himself and his wife, Rebeca Tavares, suited and booted to celebrate a quiet New Year's Eve.

He wrote on Instagram: "Happy New Year!!!! May 2021 bring us many blessings."

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson shared a video on social media of himself watching Alicia Keys' special New Year's performance on the BBC, adding: "Perfect way to see the New Year in."

Christine McGuinness also had a quiet night in, but watched husband Paddy on TV.

Sharing a laid back video, Christine spent the night in and later watched fireworks from a distance.

Filming Paddy on television, she posted on Instagram to say "so glad he's here with me".

While in Dorset, Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts posted on social media to say she was enjoying the last sunset of 2020, on a quiet day out.

She said: "I had to see the last sun set of 2020. Wishing you all a much needed Happy New Year! May it bring calm, love and your dreams again."

The celebs' posts come after Merseyside was suddenly plunged into Tier 3, scrapping any plans people had to have a meal out with their household for New Year's Eve.
