Prince Harry and Meghan were reportedly planning to give their newborn son a gender-neutral upbringing - but their birth announcement suggests otherwise.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their happy news on their official Instagram account today, revealing they'd welcomed a baby boy weighing 7lbs 3oz at 5:26am.
And ahead of the birth, the couple was said to have shunned gender stereotypes in the baby's nursery, kitting it out with whites and greys rather than pink or blue.
“Meghan has been talking to some of her friends about the birth and how she and Harry plan to raise their baby,” a source previously told Vanity Fair .

“She said they won’t be imposing any stereotypes.”
However, fans couldn't help but notice the birth announcement was carried on a bright blue background - the colour synonymous with a boy.
And a royal expert recently told ITV's Lorraine that while they plan to raise their son 'differently', the gender-neutral claims are 'false'.

“ Prince Harry is sixth-in-line to the throne. [The baby is] going to have a very different upbringing to the Cambridge children," the expert said of Prince William and Kate's three children.
"It think it’s more about breaking down royal stereotypes, so allowing the child to not have a title, let the child explore itself.”
