How media in Europe reacted to Liverpool's historic Champions League triumph in Madrid

Liverpool have lifted the Champions League trophy for the sixth time in their history.

The Reds triumphed over Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitan in Madrid, with Mo Salah and Divock Origi both getting on the scoresheet.

In truth it wasn't a classic Champions League final, with little drama or goal mouth action throughout the 90 minutes.

But the images of Jurgen Klopp and his stars lifting the famous trophy was enough to persuade plenty of sport newspapers around Europe to stick Liverpool's victory on their front pages.

In Spain, Mundo Deportivo they went with the headline 'Orgullo Red" which translates as 'Red Pride' to accompany a half page picture of Jordan Henderson raising the trophy above his head.

The paper then included the following sub heads: "The Liverpool does not fail and conquest in Madrid its sixth Champions after a little showy final.

"Salah, penalty in the first minute, and Origi ended the dream of Tottenham."

As with every Spanish publication, Mundo Deportivo give plenty of space on the cover to mourn Jose Antonio Reyes' tragic death - the former Arsenal forward was killed in a car crash aged 35 on Saturday.

In fact Madrid paper Marca used Reyes as their main picture, but still found some space for Liverpool.

"Liverpool lifts the sixth" they proclaim, with a snap of the podium celebrations.

Sport also condemn Liverpool to an small slither of the page as they splash on the news Rodrigo is favourite to join Barcelona this summer.

Their headline on Liverpool is the factually obvious, "Liverpool win their sixth European Cup."

AS do go big on the Champions League final with a "Eterno Liverpool" but focus on Klopp face holding the trophy.

In France, L'Equipe use Henderson winning the trophy with the headline "God Save The Reds."
