Last week, we provided an early projection of a 53-man final roster for the 2019 Miami Dolphins. There, several undrafted free agents (UDFAs) were projected to make Miami’s final cut downs — in part because of some of the talent they’ve been able to sign but also as a byproduct of their own roster teardown.
But how many UDFAs at least have a realistic chance of making the Miami Dolphins? Depending on how training camp and the preseason play out, the Dolphins could see UDFAs claim a sizable portion of their final roster. Here’s who has a realistic chance to make the cut.
WR Preston Williams
Williams boasts great production during his only season of playing at Colorado State. His size and ball skills offer the Dolphins some specialized qualities that the team could covet.
IOL Deion Calhoun
Calhoun has the luxury of playing a coveted position for the Dolphins — they need to get the offensive line right. And his physical play at Mississippi State could play into his favor, especially considering Miami’s depth issues up front.
DL Jonathan Ledbetter
If the Dolphins accept the 3-4 base front as a necessity based on their personnel this season, Ledbetter is a logical choice to make the team as an unspectacular but solid base end.
LB Tre Watson
Watson has a fair amount of range and showed a good nose for the football at Maryland in 2018. Getting more big plays from the linebackers would be a great bonus.
LB Terrill Hanks
Hanks is a pretty physical player between the tackles and the Dolphins could possibly covet that stout play up the middle.
CB Montre Hartage
Hartage projects well as a press nickel defender. He doesn’t have great turn and run long speed but he does offer some man to man ability and is a great tackler — giving him special teams upside.
