Granit Xhaka was his usual, physical self during the first half of Sunday's North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Swiss midfielder made three fouls before half-time, most notably on Harry Kane, with one incident seeing the 27-year-old hauled to the ground by the Arsenal midfielder.
Spurs gained a comfortable advantage during the first period, with Son Heung-min firing home inside 15 minutes before Kane doubled his side's lead in stoppage time, his close-range effort smacking the underside of the crossbar on its way over the line.
Jose Mourinho's side went into the match looking to record back-to-back league victories against Arsenal, a feat which has not been made a reality since 2010.
Spurs fans on Twitter expressed disappointment at Xhaka repeatedly avoiding punishment despite committing a number of early fouls, with referee Martin Atkinson hesitant to brandish his yellow card to the Arsenal man.
@mistertee1970 : That's 4 fouls by Xhaka now.
@stuartcofficial : How many fouls till Xhaka gets booked?
@PaulTitman : Can clearly see Xhaka's instruction from his manager for this game. Deary me!
@Buckers26 : How many fouls will Xhaka commit until he gets booked, I'm going 500.
@JonCAustin : What Xhaka got to do to get booked?
@falloutpilot_ : Xhaka deserves a yellow the second he steps on the pitch.
@jaimestaples : I’ve had enough of this Xhaka guy.
@pdmarquart : Just red card Xhaka and get this over with.
@1882AimHigh : Is Atkinson waiting for Xhaka to stomp on Harry’s ankle before he gives him a yellow or what... enough!
@MauriceBurnett : Xhaka is getting away with murder.
