Arsenal currently occupy the final Champions League spot in the Premier League table following their 2-0 win over West Ham United.
But will they still be fourth come Christmas Day?
Well, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta spoke to the media following the win at the Emirates Stadium and said being in the top four right now doesn't count for much.
"No because this league is going finish in May," he said. "It’s better than where we were, but we want to be higher. We need to find a consistency. We know the level of this league. This league is ruthless and what it’s done today, tomorrow is different so let’s prepare for the next game."
Of course, the aim for Arsenal has to be confirming a place in the top-four come the end of the season as that will result in their return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2016/17 campaign.
Although, being in the top-four for Christmas would be another sign that the team are heading in the right direction.
And following the 2-0 win over the Hammers, coupled with Manchester United's game against Brentford being called off, Arsenal are very much in the driver's seat when it comes to the Christmas top-four battle.
So what does this all mean for Arsenal, Arteta, and the top-four battle?
The Gunners have 29 points after 17 games, but they had been looking over their shoulder at Tottenham Hotspur in particular who have three games in hand over them.
With that said, because there's one more gameweek until Christmas, Arsenal can achieve a maximum of 32 points if they manage to beat Leeds United at the weekend.
So one more win will be enough to confirm their top-four place for Christmas, but failure to win at Elland Road will open the door for West Ham to take advantage.
As the Hammers are only a point behind Arsenal, victory over Norwich City will put them on 31 points and that would be enough for David Moyes' side to be in the top-four at Christmas.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are confirmed to be above Man Utd at Christmas as their clash against Brighton and Hove Albion has been postponded.
However, as mentioned above, Arsenal, West Ham had ought to be slightly concerned about Spurs.
Antonio Conte's side have multiple games in hand, but because their trip to Leicester City has been postponed due to an increase of Covid-19 cases, they may only play once before Christmas Day.
So even if the Lilywhites beat Liverpool that would put them on 28 points and that is not enough to catch Arsenal no matter what happens at Elland Road.
That is another team for the Gunners to not worry about and they can avoid any problems by winning at Leeds to confirm their top-four spot for Christmas.
