THERE are 18 MSPs in the Scottish Parliament who are landlords, and nine who have second homes, commercial properties, or shares in real estate companies.
Overall, a fifth of the new cohort of MSPs (27) have property interests.
But who are they, how much money do they make each year and how many properties do they own?
Following an analysis of each MSP's registers of interests, we’ve broken it down by party.

Reform UK
Eight of Reform’s 17 MSPs have property interests.
Malcolm Offord, West Scotland
Rental properties: One, a house in Cape Town, valued at up to £1 million.
Estimated income: The property is currently not being let. Offord’s register says it previously generated up to £30,000 a year.
Second home: The Reform Scotland leader has four additional homes that he does not receive rental income from. A flat in Inverclyde worth £200,000, a flat on the Isle of Wight valued at £1.3m, a house in Argyll and Bute worth £1.6m, and a London flat valued at £1.8m.
Senga Beresford, South Scotland
Rental properties: A cottage holiday let in Dumfries and Galloway valued at £300,000.
Estimate income: £10,000 a year.
Second home: No, but Beresford owns three commercial properties in Dumfries and Galloway. One she does not receive income from, the other two give her a combined £20,000 a year in rental income.
Victor Currie, Highlands and Islands
Rental properties: A flat in East Lothian worth £250,000.
Estimated income: Until October 2025, £5000 a year.
Julie MacDougall, Mid Scotland and Fife
Rental properties: A flat in the Canary Islands worth £150,000 and a flat in Edinburgh valued at £200,000.
Estimated income: Up to £25,000 a year from both properties.
Angela Ross, Edinburgh and Lothians East
Second home: A cottage in East Lothian worth £250,000. Ross does not receive income from the property.
Kim Schmulian, Glasgow
Second home: Co-owns a maisonette flat in East Lothian worth £150,000 with her two sisters. Her mother lives in the property and she does not derive any income from it.
Mark Simpson, North East Scotland
Second home: A flat in London worth £500,000, which he does not receive rental income for.
Helen McDade, Mid Scotland and Fife
McDade has a 50% share of a commercial shop in South Lanarkshire valued at £100,000.
It generates rental income of £10,000 a year.
SNP
Eight of the SNP’s 58 MSPs have property interests.
Stephen Flynn, Aberdeen Deeside and North Kincardine
Rental properties: Flynn has a 50% share of a flat in Aberdeen valued at £150,000.
Estimated income: He receives half of the annual income of up to £10,000 a year.
Hannah Mary Goodlad, Shetland Islands
Rental properties: A flat in Aberdeen valued at £250,000.
Estimated income: Up to £10,000 a year.
Keith Brown, Clackmannanshire and Dunblane
Rental properties: Two properties, a house in Clackmannanshire valued at £400,000 and part-owner of a flat in East Lothian, worth £250,000, which he doesn’t receive income from.
Estimated income: £20,000 a year from the house in Clackmannanshire.
Calum Kerr, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale
Rental properties: A house, a furnished holiday let, in the Highland area valued at £400,000.
Estimated income: £10,000 a year.
Paul McLennan, East Lothian Coast and Lammermuirs
Rental properties: A house in Dunbar worth £250,000 which he rents to his parents-in law.
Estimated income: £5000 a year.
Gillian Martin, Aberdeenshire East
Second home: A house in Aberdeenshire valued at £100,000.
Alyn Smith, Stirling
Second home: A 50% share in a house in Edinburgh worth £500,000. Smith says his parents reside in the house and he doesn’t receive any income from it.
Colin Beattie, Midlothian North
Beattie is an unremunerated director of Ben Sheann Enterprises Ltd, which buys and sells real estate. Beattie holds 50% of issued share capital, valued at £106,000.
Scottish Tories
Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West
Rental properties: Various. He is the Trustee of the Banchory Trust and Fordie Trust, both of which own property in Aberdeenshire which generate income. The Banchory Trust owns property valued at £17.2m, while Fordie Trust owns property worth £4.8m.
He also owns AJA Burnett estate which has “residential and commercial lettings” and is valued at £18.2m.
Estimated income: The Banchory Trust properties generate income of up to £430,000 a year, while the Fordie Trust generates up to £190,000 a year. AJA Burnett estate generates £850,000 of income a year, “excluding any one-off property transactions”.
Murdo Fraser, Mid Scotland and Fife
Rental properties: A flat in Edinburgh valued at £400,000.
Estimated income: Up to £15,000 a year.
James Adams, North East Scotland
Rental properties: Three. Properties in Fraserburgh, Badenoch and Strathspey, and Aberdeen.
Estimated income: Unknown, Adam’s register has not been published as he recently replaced Douglas Lumsden after he became MP for Aberdeen South. He describes himself as a self employed landlord on his Aberdeenshire council register of interests.
Scottish LibDems
Alex Cole-Hamilton, Edinburgh North Western
Rental properties: A garden shed he lets out on Airbnb.
Estimated income: £15,000 a year.
Duncan Dunlop, South Scotland
Rental properties: A semi-detached cottage in Montenegro he co-owns with his wife worth £150,000.
Estimated income: Just over £7000 (€8400) a year
Morven-May MacCallum, Highlands and Islands
Rental properties: A caravan in the Highlands.
Estimated income: Between £9000 and £15,000 a year.
Scottish Greens
Laura Moodie, South Scotland
Rental properties: A flat in Glasgow worth £150,000.
Estimated income: £10,000 a year.
Second home: A 16.67% share of a house in Wakefield valued at £400,000. This is understood to be inherited, and the property is currently occupied by a family member.
Q Manivannan, Edinburgh and Lothians East
Second home: A house in India worth £250,000.
Cara McKee, West Scotland
Second home: A 25% share of a property in West Yorkshire valued at £300,000. This is also understood to be an inherited share of a family home.
Scottish Labour
Irshad Ahmed, Edinburgh and Lothians East
Rental properties: Two, both in Edinburgh and Lothians East. One flat worth £250,000 and a house worth £20,000.
Estimated income: £20,000 a year.
Second home: No, but Ahmed has two commercial properties he also receives income from in Edinburgh and Lothians East. One worth £100,000 and another worth £400,000. He makes £40,000 a year from both.
Claire Baker, Mid Scotland and Fife
Rental properties: A flat in Aberdeen co-owned with her husband valued at £150,000.
Estimated income: £5000 a year.
Second home: A house in France – also co-owned with her husband – valued at £100,000.
