Eight of Manchester United’s key players last season are in their prime or prospect years of their career, an MEN Sport study has found.
Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford are both aged under 24 and played in more than half of United’s game time in all competitions in 2018/19.
David De Gea, Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelöf, Nemanja Matic, Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku, meanwhile, are aged between 24 and 30 - often considered peak years - and also played in at least half the possible game time.
Ashley Young, who signed a one-year contract extension last season, was the only key player aged over 30. The right-back turns 34 next month.
