How many Man City players are in the prime years of their careers

Seven of Manchester City’s key players last season are in their prime years of their careers.

Ederson, Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling, Bernado Silva, Ilkay Gündogan and John Stones are all aged between 24 and 30 and played at more than half of the club’s game time in all competitions in 2018/19.

The rest of the squad either played fewer than half of the club’s minutes or are aged over 30.

The Blues won an unprecedented treble of domestic trophies last season and retained the Premier League title for the first time in the club's history.

Pep Guardiola's side were knocked out of the Champions League on away goals by Tottenham Hotspur, however, to deny City a shot at the quadruple.

The City manager is insistent that his side will improve next season, despite their success in the last campaign, and MEN Sport data suggests that Guardiola will build from a solid foundation.

This chart produced by the M.E.N shows at a glance the makeup of the current City squad as we head into the summer transfer window.

Guardiola is known to be in the hunt for a replacement for Fernandinho, with the Brazil international turning 35 next season.

City were left frustrated last summer as Jorginho and Fred opted for moves to Chelsea and Manchester United respectively, while Frenkie de Ligt agreed terms with Barcelona in January.

Rodri, the Atlético Madrid midfielder, is understood to be Guardiola's preferred target this summer, with the Spain international's release clause believed to stand at £70 million. Lyon's Tanguy Ndobele and Marcos Alonso, of Real Madrid, are thought to be back-up options.
