We're in a purple patch of new dramas at the minute with Years & Years and Gentleman Jack and a new one has just started on ITV.
While BBC viewers are revved up by Killing Eve season two, ITV have unleashed Wild Bill and it stars none other than Hollywood actor in the leading man role.
So far this year ITV have scored ratings winners with Cheat and The Bay, is Wild Bill next on the list?
According to the ITV website, Wild Bill is a fish-out-of-water crime drama following high-flying US police chief Bill Hixon, who is appointed Chief Constable in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Landing in the UK with his teenage daughter Kelsey in tow, Bill is ready to tackle the county’s crime figures, armed with a range of statistics and algorithms with every intention of getting in and out as quickly as possible.
However, Bill soon discovers the people of Boston are just as smart-mouthed, cynical and difficult to impress as he is, and the man who’s spent his life keeping the messiness of human intimacy at arm’s length is reluctantly propelled into frontline policing and forced to reconsider his relationship with those closest to him.
How many episodes of Wild Bill are there?
There will be six episodes, meaning that after the second one on Wednesday, June 19, there will be four left.
The second episode will see Bill try to reboot his authority by getting his team to focus on the difficult unsolved crimes, including that of the ‘Boston Bandit’ who was responsible for a series of post office robberies and a murder.
And in episode three on Wednesday, June 26, Bill launches a PR offensive when a leaked list of potential redundancies turns his team against him, and courts Boston’s old folks by claiming his new approach will make them safer.
However, when a routine burglary turns out to be something much bigger, Bill finds himself facing a public panic, fuelled by The Stump.
