It's become a Sunday night staple for millions of viewers and this weekend sees the return of much-loved ITV drama Vera.
The Tyneside based series has proved a massive ratings winner for ITV since it made its debut in 2011 with award winning actress Brenda Blethyn in the leading role of DCI Vera Stanhope.
Over the course of the past eight years, Vera , which won the special Judges accolade at the Royal Television Society North East awards in 2019, has solved all kinds of grisly mysteries in familiar places all over the region, with one of the most memorable from the last series being the famous party boat on the River Tyne.
Series 10 premieres on ITV on Sunday night at 8pm and we know it will feature and the Tan Hill Inn at Swaledale in North Yorkshire which is the highest pub in Britain.
And of course Brenda is back to lead the Vera cast.
How many episodes of Vera are there?
There will be four episodes in total - called Blood Will Tell, Parent Not Expected, Dirty and The Escape Ten and each inspired by the crime stories of acclaimed writer Ann Cleeves.
In episode 1,Vera as she is tasked with unravelling the circumstances surrounding the death of self-styled entrepreneur Freddie Gill when his body is found by bailiffs attempting to repossess his house.
Vera must uncover whether the motive behind Freddie’s death comes from the trouble at the heart of his family, his desperate financial crises or his glances with organised crime.
