There's a chill in the air on ITV this week as the channel repeat chilling detective thriller In Plain Sight, based on the real-life murders carried out by notorious serial killer Peter Manuel.
In a very different role for the Line of Duty favourite, Martin Compston plays the Scottish murderer, while Douglas Henshall stars as Detective William Muncie, the cop determined to bring Manuel to justice.
The story of In Plain Sight begins in 1946 when Muncie arrests a then 16-year-old Manuel for a number of sexual assaults in the Lanarkshire area.
Nearly a decade later the notorious criminal is released from prison, only to kill random victims and taunt his detective nemesis from a distance, aiming to make him pay for putting him behind bars.
In Plain Sight was first broadcast in 2016 and consists of three episodes, airing over consecutive nights on ITV.
A preview for Tuesday's second part teases: "Muncie is convinced Manuel has now committed four murders, but William Watt is arrested on suspicion of killing his wife, daughter and sister-in-law, despite having been on a fishing trip at the time."
The episode takes another dark turn when another young girl goes missing.
The third and final part will air on Wednesday night at 9pm.
Those viewers who are watching In Plain Sight were instantly hooked. Tweeting during Monday's first episode, one posted: "In plain sight. 9pm. 2mins in and hooked already,"
Equally gripped, a second wrote: "Not sure I like evil @martin_compston. New drama In Plain Sight on @ITV ".
