How many episodes of Dublin Murders are there? Chilling new drama continues on BBC1

There is a new drama that is cranking up a few notches and sending shivers down plenty of spines before Halloween even has a chance to get a look-in.

Following hot on the heels of thoroughly gripping series The Capture, Dublin Murders made its debut on BBC1 last week to a huge reaction.

In the summer of 2006, Rob Reilly (Killian Scott), a smart suited homicide detective and his partner Cassie (Sarah Greene) are dispatched to investigate a child’s murder and find a community caught between old and new Ireland.

On an altar lies the body of a local teenage girl, precociously talented Katy Devlin (Amy Macken). Her body is found in the middle of an archeological site, threatened by local developers aiming to build a shiny new motorway.

The neighbouring estate, Knocknaree, has never quite got its share of the ‘Celtic Tiger’ and has been blighted by poverty and unemployment for generations.

But this is the not the first time a child of Knocknaree has been lost: 21 years earlier, in a very different Ireland, three children went missing and only one ever came back alive.

Memory runs deep in this part of the world, and locals, press and the Dublin Police worry that the cases are linked.

As you'd probably expect from that synopsis, the first two episodes of Dublin Murders were quite a dark watch and left many questions for what's to come.

How many episodes of Dublin Murders are there?

There are eight episodes in total. Episodes 5 and 6 will air on BBC1 on Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 at 9pm.

In episode 5, Rob realises time is running out on the investigation and decides the only way to fully remember what happened that day is to spend the night alone in the woods, totally immersed in that strange world.

And then in part six, when Cassie immerses herself in a undercover assignment, threats both known and unexpected haunt her every living breath.
