How many drivers were fined in Nottinghamshire roads policing crackdown

Up to 10 drivers were fined and a vehicle was seized following a road safety operation in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Nine drivers were caught speeding and another was fined for using a mobile phone at the wheel.

A vehicle was also seized after its driver was found to have no valid driving licence.

Officers from the Ashfield Neighbourhood Team carried out the "fatal four" operation in Stoneyford Road on Sunday afternoon (October 18).

Fatal four offences – speeding, mobile phone use, drink and drug driving, and not wearing a seatbelt – are the main causes of deaths and serious injuries on UK roads.

Inspector Mark Dickson, district commander for Ashfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Tackling reckless and dangerous driving remains one of our key neighbourhood priorities, and local residents have been telling us for some time that they are concerned about antisocial behaviour and standards of driving in this area.

“In response, we have planned and delivered several proactive policing operations to catch offenders and send out a very clear message – that we take these issues very seriously and will take action against people who break the law on our roads or behave in an antisocial way.”
