From January, a 'floor price' for alcohol will be introduced - meaning alcohol cannot be legally sold beneath a set price
This will mean a number of things.
The minimum price will be calculated based on the amount of alcohol in the drink, measured in grams.
When you break that down, it means that stronger drinks will cost more for people to buy.
The Government voted to introduce the minimum pricing rule of 10c per gram of alcohol, with a standard drink containing about 10g of alcohol in Ireland.
The new pricing means the cheaper alcohol will see a price hike.
