How Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood reacted to England call-up

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood says it's a dream come true to be selected for the senior England national team.

The 18-year-old was included in Gareth Southgate's senior squad ahead of their Nations League fixtures against Iceland and Denmark.

Greenwood has represented the Three Lions at U17, U18 and U21 level and is selected for the senior side for the first time on the back of his breakthrough season at United.

The youngster revealed he is honoured to be selected by Southgate and says it's another dream fulfilled.

"It's a dream come true," he said at England's pre-match press conference. "Playing for England is every young boy's dream.

"It's a privilege and I'm honoured to be selected because it's a good group of lads. I'm just happy to be here.

"I got the phone call, I was at home with my dad. I was over the moon, excited and just couldn't wait to be out there. The manager rang me and told me about my selection as well as my season at United.

"My dad was buzzing for me. He's level-headed though so he kept me down early. It's a dream come true like I said before."

Greenwood also spoke about his relationship with Southgate and said he's already received some advice from the England boss.

He added: "I've spoke with him a few times, he's happy for me to be here and wants me to be ready to take my chances.

"He told me to play with a smile on my face."
