How Manchester United dressing room reacted to Sergio Aguero's famous title-winning goal

Dimitar Berbatov admits that he will never forget his final moment in the Manchester United dressing room, which coincided with Sergio Aguero's most iconic Manchester City goal.

Born in Argentina, the frontman arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Atletico Madrid for £36million in 2011 and went on to score a record 260 times for City in 390 appearances.

Aguero won five Premier League titles, six League Cups and a solitary FA Cup during his time at City. He also picked up the division's golden boot with 26 goals during the 2014/2015 season.

His final game before a summer switch to Barcelona came in the 2021 Champions League final defeat to Chelsea.

Aguero has been forced to hang up his boots - prematurely - after suffering a heart scare during one of five outings in his short spell at the Nou Camp.

He will surely be best remembered for the most dramatic of goals against QPR; a moment which is opposingly remembered at United as it stopped Berbatov and his teammates from winning the 2012 title.

The former Bulgaria striker departed Old Trafford soon after to sign for London side Fulham.

Speaking in his role as a Betfair ambassador, Berbatov said: "I will never forget him for that goal - the one goal that will stay forever in the minds of all Reds for the wrong reasons - the goal that won City the title. He disappointed us greatly, but it was a great moment for City.

"I remember it well. I was at the Stadium of Light with my teammates, Sir Alex Ferguson and the coaching staff. We were waiting and waiting for the final whistle from the Etihad to confirm us as champions, until Aguero changed the destiny of the Premier League. It's the moment that he will be forever known for.

"I remember when we would come up against City, the pre-match and half-time talks were, always, about paying attention to Aguero, because he can score goals that you don't expect. He was one of the true greats."

Berbatov added: "He's in the top three best players in the Premier League history. There have been a lot of foreign players to grace football in England and the players that come straight into my mind for their greatness are Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Aguero."
