Chelsea may be forced to wait to confirm their top-four finish this season due to events at Old Trafford on Sunday that have left the Premier League scratching their hands.
The Blues are looking good for a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification for next season, currently fourth and five points ahead of Tottenham in fifth.
Though, sixth-placed West Ham and seventh-placed Liverpool are six and seven points behind respectively, but both have a game in hand.
West Ham play tonight, against Burnely, but Liverpool are likely to stay a game behind for the foreseeable future after their clash with Manchester United on Sunday was postponed.
Amid protests in Manchester over United's ownership, fans broke into Old Trafford and stormed the pitch ahead of kick-off and the respective warm-ups.
Initially, it was thought the game would be delayed while more stringent security was put in place, but both clubs confirmed the postponement of the fixture shortly after.
It was announced that the game would be rescheduled, but it seems the could be a problem on that front.
There are no remaining mid-week slots for either team between now and the end of the season, and all weekend slots are also filled as things stand.
That means the Premier League may need to break its tradition of every team playing their final fixture on the last day, and that could mean Chelsea are forced to wait for their top four position to be confirmed until late in the season, given Liverpool could keep their game in-hand until the very end of the campaign.
Today might actually have been the most viable option for the fixture given the apparent issues with free dates, but there has been nothing in the way of confirmation at this late stage.
Instead, there could be a rearrangement involving other games, perhaps bringing Liverpool's trip to West Brom forward to a midweek slot and staging the fixture on Sunday, May 16.
Thomas Tuchel and his men will be desperate to wrap up the race as soon as possible and before the final games of the season to make sure this is not an issue, but their fixture list is not exactly kind with Manchester City Arsenal and Leicester City still left to play.
