Kevin De Bruyne is very satisfied with the CAS decision to overturn Manchester City's Champions League ban.
De Bruyne, 29, had hinted that he may consider his future at City if their two-year ban was upheld, but had also commented on how settled he was in Manchester.
With Monday's verdict clearing City to play in next season's Champions League, City are in a far stronger position when it comes to retaining their best players and possibly negotiating new contracts.
According to De Bruyne's agent Patrick De Koster, the Belgian was 'very happy' with the news City will play in the Champions League in 2020/21, offering the club a huge boost when it comes to keeping him this summer.
“After the CAS verdict, we FaceTimed for a moment and Kevin was very happy, very satisfied," De Koster told HBVL. “If you are banned from the Champions League at that age, you should think again.
“We’ll see. He now has a three-year contract in Manchester, is settled with his family and is feeling good. They have also always been very good with him. Moreover, the number of clubs that can pay him [his salary] is not that big."
However, De Koster said Champions League football is not essential to him staying in Manchester, and urged caution over suggestions De Bruyne would be immediately open to signing a new contract past his current deal which expires in 2023.
“He sees participation in the Champions League next season mainly as a bonus," De Koster said. "But that decision doesn’t mean more to him. It is not the case that we will now sign a new contract in Manchester tomorrow.”
