Manchester City sprung a surprise this evening when they announced Phil Foden would make his first Premier League start.
The Blues cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Cardiff City to move back to the top of the Premier League and Foden played his part.
It’s a real testament to the 18-year-old’s progression that Pep Guardiola had the confidence to put his faith in the starlet and Man City fans certainly feel like the decision was vindicated.
Foden was more than just solid in his first start and even showed moments of real class, with the reaction from fans summing up his display.

Foden delivered a beautiful ball for Aymeric Laporte to almost head into the net late in the game, while the midfielder hit the post himself and also forced a save. It’s safe to say City fans thought he deserved more glory than he earned in what was a great display.
