How Man City can beat Liverpool FC to the Premier League title - and lift it at the Etihad

There are two series of events that will see Manchester City retain the Premier League title for the first time - and lift the trophy in front of their supporters after the Huddersfield game at the Etihad.

Should the Blues take maximum points from their next two games - away at Burnley and at home against Leicester - and Liverpool drop more than two points in their next two games, Pep Guardiola's side will be out of reach at the league's summit.

Liverpool, who face Huddersfield (home), Newcastle (away) and Wolves (home) in their remaining three fixtures, are a point behind City after the Blues took three points from their game in hand with a 2-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's side must win all three of their games and hope that City drop points against Burnley, Leicester or Brighton to win the title for the first time since 1990.

We've broken down the permutations of the title race that would see the Blues lift the trophy after the Leicester game:
