How Man City are helping their players during football suspension

Aleks Zinchenko credited Manchester City for their response during the shutdown caused by coronavirus.

The Premier League has been suspended for two weeks following the outbreak of the virus and it is uncertain when it will return; an original date at the beginning of April has already been pushed back to the end of that month but there are doubts over when it will be safe to resume playing again, even behind closed doors.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson imposed stricter rules on everyone on Monday night, meaning the majority of people can only leave their homes once a day for exercise and warning that there will be sanctions for anybody disobeying the rules.

Speaking to Ukrainian TV show Great Football, via Mail Online, City's versatile left-back welcomed the introduction of the quarantine and spoke more highly of what his club have been doing to help the players while they have been unable to train together at the Etihad Campus.

“Manchester City take care of all their players and staff. When I wake up, there is a message from the doctor: how do I feel, how are my family and friends?" he said. "They bring me food six days a week and equipment to keep fit.”

City have been training alone for almost a fortnight. The team were together at the training ground on April 12 for a session when they were still working towards preparing for the league match with Burnley. But following the Premier League announcement the following day that football would be stopped, the players were sent home and given individual training programmes to keep their fitness levels up.
