Wayne Couzens, the disgraced officer who kidnaped, raped and murdered Sarah Everard i n March 2021 has been sentenced to a whole life order.
During the sentencing, the court heard how Couzens had used his police knowledge of covid laws to kidnap Sarah from the street under a false arrest in South London.

The officer strangled Sarah with his police belt and left her remains in a wooded area in rural kent.
Couzens, 48, was handed a whole life order for the “grotesque” killing of the 33-year-old marketing executive.
Lord Justice Fulford said that the severity of the case was so “exceptionally high” that it warranted a whole life order.

He said: “The misuse of a police officer’s role such as occurred in this case in order to kidnap, rape and murder a lone victim is of equal seriousness as a murder for the purpose of advancing a political, religious ideological cause.”
How long will Couzens be in prison?
Wayne Couzens has been given a whole life sentence for the murder of Sarah Everard.

This means that there’s no minimum term set by the judge, and he will never be considered for release.
He will spend the rest of his life in prison for the crimes he committed against Sarah Everard.
This is the most severe sentencing and is different from a life sentence, where a convict can be eligible for early release after a minimum term set by the judge.
