'How long will this last?' - Chelsea fans have same reaction to what Marcos Alonso did vs Leeds

Chelsea fans have been expressing their disappointment after Marcos Alonso’s poor first-half moment against Leeds United.

The Spaniard was handed another start by Blues boss Thomas Tuchel in the continued absence of Ben Chilwell.

It was the former Fiorentina man’s fourth successive start in the league following the injury to his defensive colleague, having previously not played a single minute between October and the end of November.

Alonso certainly did not enjoy the best start to the clash against Leeds as he clumsily bundled into Dan James and conceded a penalty.

VAR did check the decision before it was confirmed to the frustration of the Stamford Bridge crowd.

It was Raphinha who assumed responsibility from the spot and he stayed cool to slot the ball past Edouard Mendy and give Leeds the advantage.

Following the incident, Chelsea fans took to social media to express their frustration with Alonso.

Here are the best of their thoughts.

Whilst the 30-year-old was at fault for the Leeds opener, he did manage to redeem himself before the half-time whistle as his cross dropped perfectly for Mason Mount to equalise in the 42nd minute.

It was the midfielder’s sixth Premier League goal of the season, having now found the net in each of his last three domestic appearances.

Should the results stay the same, then Chelsea would end the day in third, with Manchester City having previously beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium, whilst Liverpool were also being held at Anfield by Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.
