How long will the sunny spring weather last in the UK?

  • Wednesday was recorded as the hottest day of the year so far in the UK, with temperatures reaching 20.9C in Gogerddan near Aberystwyth.
  • Warm and sunny weather is set to continue across the UK into the weekend, although temperatures are not expected to reach 20C again.
  • Forecasts indicate highs of 17C in London and Manchester on Thursday, dropping to 15C on Friday, which is also the spring equinox.
  • The Met Office predicts highs of 16C in Manchester on Saturday and 14C across most of England on Sunday.
  • The current warm spell is due to air being drawn up from southern Europe, with a Met Office spokesman suggesting these temperatures are likely a peak for some time.
