How long does Love Island last? ITV2 series finish date and when winner will be crowned

Love Island 2021 has only just begun and the drama is already amping up.

From rows over plastic surgery, to bombshell arrivals and breakups, we can't wait to see how the ITV2 series plays out.

And while the series finish date is yet to be confirmed, the show is expected to last eight weeks.

The series begun on June 28, which would mean the current series could potentially end on Monday, August 23.

The 2020 summer series of Love Island was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and a second winter series did not air at the beginning of the year.

The previous two summer series of Love Island counted for 49 episodes each, and the current series, which is the seventh, is expected to be of a similar length.

In the finale, viewers will vote for their winner, who will be awarded £50,000 in prize money and will have to decide whether to keep it all for themselves or share it with their partner.

Love Island airs Monday to Friday and on Sundays, with a best bits episode airing every Saturday

There is also a spin-off show called Love Island Aftersun, which airs on Sundays after the main show and is hosted by the programme's presenter Laura Whitmore.

Another spin-off, Love Island: The Morning After Sun, airs daily on the ITVHub.

The show, which was previously a podcast but is now a series, is hosted by former Islander and 2017 winner Kem Cetinay and TV presenter Arielle Free.

Love Island 2021 kicked off with an explosive start after contestant Shannon Singh was dumped from the island.

Bombshell Chloe chose the guy that Shannon was coupled up with, Aaron, which meant Shannon was single and the first out of the villa.

After just 48 hours in the villa, Shannon's exit became the quickest dumping the reality TV show has ever done.

The second Islander to leave was Chuggs, whose real name is Oliver.

He was dumped from the island after new girl Rachel came in as the latest bombshell and decided to couple up with Brad.

Chuggs admitted that he was "gutted" to be leaving the vila after just two days but said that he was happy that he had been able to sleep in a bed with two of the most attractive Islanders.

An iconic part of Love Island is Casa Amor, which sees the boys leave the main villa for a short stay in another villa with a new group of girls, while back in the main villa the girls are joined by a new group of boys.

Casa Amor is designed to test the Islanders' relationships as they have to decide whether to stay with their original partners or with the new people they have met.

This is expected to return this season and usually airs later on in the series when the Islanders have formed established romances with each other.

*Love Island airs Monday to Sunday, excluding Saturday, on ITV2 at 9pm
