Liverpool's bitter rivals Manchester United have completed the £18million signing of Daniel James from Swansea City and it's claimed that the deal could benefit transfer business at Anfield.
The 21-year-old Wales international has become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first signing at Old Trafford but Goal.com claim that Liverpool are using the deal to help evaluate how much their own winger Ryan Kent is worth.
The 22-year-old – who spent last season on loan at Steven Gerrard's Rangers side – is reported to have turned down a potential loan move to Championship team Leeds United and instead would prefer to either try and force his way into Jurgen Klopp's first team squad or leave the Reds in a permanent deal.
Kent has been loaned out by Liverpool five times, and amassed 125 first-team appearances during those spells, while James has earned his move to United off the back of just 43 senior appearances.
That has reportedly led to Liverpool to look for a fee of some £12million to sell Kent permanently, thereby swelling their transfer coffers to make their own moves this summer.
But with several of Liverpool's attackers away on international duty, Kent is at least expected to be given a chance by Klopp in the newly-crowned European champions' early pre-season friendlies.
