How Liverpool FC briefly became the official face of Twitter

Liverpool, as Reds fans all know and are delighted about, are the kings of European and world football and are very likely soon to be crowned kings of English football too.

But for a brief spell this evening the Reds were also the kings of Twitter!

Twitter's own Twitter account (yes, they do have one) posted earlier this afternoon saying they needed a new header (that's the main image at the top of a profile page for the initiated).

As you might imagine, they were inundated with replies, including one from Liverpool account Empire of the Kop offering a picture of Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum as their new header.

And Twitter, for a brief period, actually adopted as the header image on the top of their profile page.

They seem to have been adopting a few suggestions thrown at them as shortly afterwards the header image had changed to one of of USA womens football star Megan Papinoe.

Now though it seems to have reverted, rather unimaginatively, to a plain image that simply reads 'twitter.com'.
