How Liverpool could line up at Chelsea without Thiago, Alisson and Roberto Firmino

Liverpool take on one of their Premier League title rivals in their next match this weekend.

The Reds travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday, in a game which is already being considered a must-win in several quarters.

Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in their last outing, and have fallen further behind leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool are third and nine points behind the leaders at present, while Chelsea are one point ahead of the Reds in second having played one game more.

Securing a win against Chelsea on Sunday could be vital to Liverpool’s chance of winning the Premier League, but they could be without several key players.

Andy Robertson is still suspended following his red card against Tottenham earlier this month, meaning Kostas Tsimikas is likely to continue at left-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip took part in training today, and are likely starters against Chelsea.

The latest round of training pictures showed that Thiago Alcantara still hasn’t returned to action.

After missing the draw with Spurs due to a positive Covid-19 test, Thiago also missed the defeat to Leicester after suffering from “muscle soreness”.

He was not pictured in training on Thursday, which could well mean that he will be unavailable once again this weekend.

However, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Naby Keita did take part and could line up in midfield at Stamford Bridge.

Other players not pictured in training were Roberto Firmino, Alisson Becker, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.

Alisson’s potential absence will be a cause for concern, but Klopp is expected to provide an update in his press conference on Friday.

Were Alisson not to be available, Caoimhin Kelleher would be expected to step in for the Brazilian between the sticks.

Firmino only recently returned to fitness after recovering from a hamstring injury, and has made cameo appearances in Liverpool’s last three matches.

This would mean that Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane may make up the front three in the capital.

Possible Liverpool line-up vs Chelsea: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Salah, Jota, Mane.
