How Lionel Messi's brace against Liverpool will affect Cristiano Ronaldo

Lionel Messi's Champions League brace against Liverpool has got Cristiano Ronaldo gunning for more goals, says Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Messi made it to 600 club goals as he inspired Barcelona to a 3-0 semi-final victory on Wednesday - profiting from a rebound for his first before rifling in a stunning free-kick to leave Liverpool's hopes hanging by a thread.

The Argentine genius hit the 600-mark just days after Ronaldo, who achieved the feat with his equaliser for runaway Serie A champions Juventus in their 1-0 draw at Inter Milan on Saturday.

And Messi's Camp Nou worldie has fired up Ronaldo to become Serie A's top scorer, with the shoot-out between the two just the latest instalment in their long-running rivalry.

Ronaldo, on 27 goals for the season, is three behind Sampdoria's Fabio Quagliarella in the race to finish as 'Capocannoniere' ('head gunner') in Serie A in 2018-19.

He is a whopping 21 behind Messi - but he won't want to be outdone by the Barca star in the career goals stakes, and Juventus boss Allegri says Torino will feel the backlash in Friday's derby.

"Messi is a good stimulus for Cristiano," said Allegri in quotes reported by Goal . "We have a derby and Messi achieved that (600 goals) yesterday.

"He will be fired up to move ahead in the scoring and he aims to finish as top-scorer in Serie A."

Allegri also praised Aaron Ramsey, who will join Juventus from Arsenal this summer.

"He is a quality player, with goals in his legs, a lot of energy and great timing. He's a great signing," Allegri said.

Ramsey confirmed he has played his last game for the club in an emotional Instagram post.

Aaron Ramsey sends emotional message to fans after playing last Arsenal game

He wrote: "It saddens me to say that the game against Napoli was my last game in an Arsenal shirt.

"Unfortunately it left me with an injury that rules me out of the remaining games.

"I am really disappointed not to play until the end and give everything for the club while I am still an Arsenal player.

"Unfortunately it’s out of my hands but I wanted to say thank you to the fans for your support."
