How Leicester's draw with Burnley affects tight Premier League top four race

Leicester dropped more points in their battle to finish in the top four as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

Clarets forward Matej Vydra pounced on hesitation from Wilfried Ndidi in the opening moments to give the home side the lead, with Foxes midfielder Hamza Choudhury punished for a weak pass.

Leciester struck back though, and equalised before the break with a fine finish on the volley from Kelechi Iheanacho.

It was Burnley who largely had the better of the game though, and home midfielder Ashley Westwood came close to winning it when his effort hit a post.

Youri Tielemans then hit the woodwork at the other end as Leicester almost won it late on.

The draw means Leicester missed the chance to move up to second in the table, and instead sit third on 50 points.

They have played more games than all of the sides immediately below them in the table, with Liverpool (6th) and Chelsea (5th) facing each other at Anfield on Thursday.

Manchester United would move three points clear of Leicester and consolidate second with a win at Crystal Palace on Wednesday, before they go to champions-elect Manchester City on Sunday.

Leicester are next in action on Saturday when they go to struggling Brighton.

West Ham next play on Monday when they host Leeds, meaning that the winner of Liverpool vs Chelsea on Thursday will leap up to fourth place and move hot on the heels of the stuttering Foxes.
