An even bigger TV bonanza is now expected for football fans in England with all games from Spain’s La Liga set to be shown for free in June.
Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez handed La Liga the green light for the planned resumption of the 2019/20 season from June.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has spoken publicly about the wish to get Spain's top-flight back in motion from June 12th and that path has now been paved, with the government approving a return from June 8th.
"Spain has done what it should and now new horizons are opening for everyone. The time has come to bring back many day-to-day activities. From 8 June, La Liga will be back," he said over the weekend.
And now according to a report in the Mirror, La Liga and its broadcast partner Premier Sports will announce this week that all live matches will be made available for Sky TV customers.
Games from Spain's top-flight are set to be shown on every day of the week with late afternoon and evening kick-offs as well as night matches at weekends.
The move to show all games live for free is believed to be in response to the success BT Sport have had in showing Germany's Bundesliga over the past few weeks.
The report goes on to add that Sky subscribers - or anyone with a Sky box - will be able to sign up for free during June with the subscription price normally £5.99. While non-Sky subscribers are also set to be offered free games in June via the Premier Player app.
La Liga have also announced that a new magazine show featuring former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will be on air from June 1.
Talking Football series will be hosted by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who will interview Pochettino, while there will also be more regular programming around the games.
