How Leeds United's promotion rivals Norwich and Sheffield United are spending the international break

Plenty of Leeds players have been keeping busy over the international break , with Gjanni Alioski, Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Klich, Tyler Roberts and Bailey Peacock-Farrell taking part in their respective countries’ Euro 2020 qualification campaign.

Others have been enjoying some downtime, with Kalvin Phillips posting a snap from Portugal on his Instagram page , but they’ll be back training at Thorp Arch soon enough.

How does this compare to Leeds’ rivals in the promotion race?

The Sheffield United squad have flown out to Spain for some warm weather training after their win at Elland Road.

"The plan is to do a bit of work but also for the lads to get a bit of rest,” said their assistant manager Alan Knill, speaking to their official website .

“It is a demanding league, it is physically and mentally tiring and this seemed like the right opportunity to take the lads away and it has worked out really well."

Those on international duty haven’t gone to the Valencia training camp, such as goalkeeper Dean Henderson and Everton loanee Kieran Dowell. Dowell started England Under-21s draw with Poland, while Henderson was on the bench.

John Fleck was an unused substitute in Scotland’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan, while Enda Stevens, John Egan and David McGoldrick are with Mick McCarthy’s Republic Of Ireland squad.

Meanwhile, league leaders Norwich - like Leeds - haven’t been away, but have an extensive list of seven internationals.

Their 21-year-old defender Ben Godfrey made his debut for England’s Under-21s in the draw against Poland, while full-back Max Aarons featured for the Under-19s 4-1 thrashing of the Czech Republic.

The Canaries’ Jamal Lewis featured alongside Peacock-Farrell and Dallas for Northern Ireland in the 2-0 win over Latvia, while Michael McGovern didn’t make it off the bench.

Their striker, the Championship’s top scorer, Teemu Pukki has been in just as good form for Finland so far this season, but will need to be at his best as they take on Italy and Armenia in the qualifiers. Kenny McLean was an unused substitute for Scotland, while Timm Klose’s Switzerland take on Georgia and Denmark.

Norwich visit Middlesbrough after the international break a week on Saturday, while the Blades host Bristol City.
