How Leeds United's points tally this season after 20 games compares to the last decade

Leeds United cemented themselves in the Championship's automatic promotion places with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.

The Whites posted a sixth successive league triumph courtesy of second half goals from Ejgzan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez.

The victory meant that Leeds moved onto 43 points, a tally that is four better than what the Whites had after 20 games last season, which, of course, also saw Marcelo Bielsa's team cement themselves as genuine promotion contenders.

And statistics now clearly show that Bielsa's current Leeds side has far higher points total than any Leeds team has managed after 20 games in each of the last 10 seasons - as pointed out by Twitter doyen @LUFCDATA .

Here is the breakdown of how many points Leeds have had after 20 matches in their last 10 campaigns and how the season panned out...

2019/20 - 43 (currently second)

2018/19 - 39 (finished third on 83 points)

2017/18 - 30 (finished 13th on 60 points)

2016/17 - 32 (finished seventh on 75 points)

2015/16 - 23 (finished 13th on 59 points)

2014/15 - 32 (finished 15th on 56 points)

2013/14 - 33 (finished 15th on 57 points)

2012/13 - 29 (finished 13th on 61 points)

2011/12 - 34  (finished 14th on 61 points)

2010/11 - 32 (finished seventh on 72 points)
