How Leeds Rhinos could look to postpone their clash with Salford Red Devils

Leeds Rhinos could decide to request that their game with Salford Red Devils is called off.

The Rhinos are due to travel to the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night, their first game in four weeks after two games were cancelled due to Covid-19 cases within the group.

However, the game takes place on the same night as England's clash with the Combined Nations All Stars, in which five Leeds Rhinos players are due to play.

Luke Gale, Mikolaj Oledzki and Ash Handley are in Shaun Wane's squad while Kruise Leeming and Matt Prior are understood to have been selected for the All Stars.

However, Rugby League Live has learned that clubs can request that their game is postponed if they have four or more international call-ups, leaving the Rhinos eligible to make a request.

It remains to be seen whether the club will take up that option, but with a number of injuries still within the squad, there are question marks over whether the Rhinos can raise a team or not.

As it stands, a rearrangement isn't thought to have been firmed up and it remains to be seen what Leeds intend to do, but they do appear to hold the cards when it comes to potentially rearranging the game.

On the flip side, Dan Sarginson is the only Salford player in the England squad, while their presence within the All Stars side has yet to be revealed.

While Leeds fans will inevitably want to see their team back on the field, they might have to wait a little longer.
