How League One is predicted to finish for Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Portsmouth and the rest

The unpredictability of League One continues with another week of intriguing results shaking up the picture at the top and bottom of the table.

With some teams playing twice, they had the chance to boost their promotion credentials or reinvigorate their fight against relegation.

It was a mixed week for Portsmouth and Sunderland, while the promotion six-pointer between Coventry City and Rotherham United ended in stalemate.

Accurately predicting the future in football is a near impossible task without a crystal ball, but American statistician Nate Silver, via his website FiveThirtyEight, claims to have devised the most reliable model.

The data experts believe Ben Garner’s Bristol Rovers are destined for a mid-table finish, with their chances of promotion and relegation both rated at less than one per cent – with the Gas predicted to claim 13 points from their remaining 12 games

Here is how FiveThirtyEight expects League One to look when the season is done.
