How Kylian Mbappe 'responded' to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp phoning his dad

Kylian Mbappe was reportedly 'flattered' that Jurgen Klopp called his father to register his interest in signing him.

Liverpool have been linked with a sensational transfer for Mbappe in recent weeks, amid claims Real Madrid are ready to go all out to sign Sadio Mane.

The France international would cost Liverpool a huge fee of around £250million, which would make the transfer unrealistic.

But should Mane leave, the club could, in theory, reinvest the money in Mbappe as the Senegalese star's direct replacement.

According to Le10sport.com, Liverpool manager Klopp recently spoke to Mbappe's dad Wilfried to discuss signing his son for Liverpool.

The same publication is now reporting that Mbappe was 'flattered' when his dad informed him of Liverpool's interest.

But it's not just the finances involved that make the deal very unlikely.

According to Mbappe's Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Ander Herrera, the World Cup winner is happy in France and has no plans to leave.

"Mbappe and Neymar are still at PSG and even more so with the situation that we are currently in," Herrera told to COPE's Tiempo de Juego.

"I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved with the project. He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris.

"PSG's project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris."
