How Kieran Tierney has reacted to Arsenal transfer interest as Gunners prepare new bid

Celtic captain Scott Brown has hailed the conduct of Kieran Tierney amid interest from Arsenal .

The Gunners have had two bids rejected for the left-back, with Celtic holding out for around £25m.

Arsenal finalised the signing of Nicolas Pepe on Thursday and are now expected to return with an improved offer for the Scotland international.

Brown insists Tierney has not been distracted by the transfer speculation as he continues his injury recovery.

Asked about how the defender has reacted, the Celtic skipper said: "He’s fine, he’s just come back from an injury.

"He’s looking forward to trying to get himself back into training and get himself back on the pitch as well.

"There’s always going to be speculation on top-quality players and that’s what Kieran is."

Brown hopes Tierney stays put this summer but admits his performances for the Scottish champions are going to attract interest from south of the border.

"As it stands he’s a Celtic player and I’d love him to stay because of what he’s done the last five seasons," he added.

"There will always be speculation whether he goes through this window to the next window, it will always be there.

"That is what we expect when the team is doing so well and we’re doing well in Europe, and he’s performing well in Europe.

"We’ll just wait and see what happens but here’s hoping he stays."

Arsenal are still in the hunt for a central defender and central midfielder before next week's deadline with Juventus pair Daniel Rugani and Sami Khedira both on Unai Emery's radar.
