How Kareem Hunt signing with the Browns affects the Eagles

Free agency has yet to officially start, but the Cleveland Browns may have made the biggest move of the offseason, signing Ohio native and former Chiefs running back, Kareem Hunt to a deal.

Browns GM John Dorsey made this statement on the signing:

For the Eagles, Hunts signing in Cleveland takes a big named free agent running back off the board and it remains to be seen if they ever had an interest in Hunt. Hunt has reportedly undergone the usual intense anger-management counseling and appears to be making progress with the counseling, which has drawn interest from several teams.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson had already said that “there’s no place” in the league for Hunt’s actions. Hunt was waived by the Chiefs after TMZ released video showing the running back involved in a physical altercation with a woman in Cleveland last February.

Looking at the free agent market for running backs, Le’Veon Bell, Jay Ajayi, Mark Ingram, Tevin Ingram, C.J. Anderson, Spencer Ware, Alfred Morris, and Alfred Blue are just a few of the potential names out there.

Hunt, who is still facing disciplinary action from the NFL, led the league in rushing yardage as a rookie, with 1,327 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns during his first season. This season the Pro Bowl running back had amassed 824 rushing yards and 14 total touchdowns in 11 games.
