How Jurgen Klopp reacted to Liverpool's Champions League group stage draw

Jurgen Klopp appears to be looking forward to locking horns with Carlo Ancelotti again after Liverpool were drawn in Group E of the Champions League along with Napoli, Salzburg and Genk.

The Reds played Ancelotti's Napoli in the same stage last season, losing 1-0 in Italy and winning 1-0 at Anfield to secure their passage through to the last-16 at the expense of Napoli.

The same teams faced off during pre-season, with Napoli winning 3-0, and Klopp told the official Liverpool website they will have to be wary of the threat posed to them by the 2018-2019 Serie A runners up.

"Napoli again! I don't know how often I've now played against Napoli, but they're obviously a very experienced side," Klopp said.

"Napoli are just a really good side. The home game we played [in last season's Champions League] was one of the best games we played because it was so rock solid.

"In the pre-season games, when we won 5-0 in Dublin [in 2018] I was not interested in the result. Now this year we lost 3-0 and that's not too interesting, but you see how good they are.

"Carlo has such experience and has won the competition so often [three times]. When they went out last year, it was pretty close, so they will remember that and it will be emotional, I am pretty sure."

Overall it looks on paper like a reasonably kind draw for Liverpool, with Genk and Salzburg both big underdogs to progress past the group.

But Klopp insists both sides will still be dangerous.

"With the other two teams, I know how people will say these are the two smaller teams of the group, they are not," Klopp added.

"Of course, Salzburg are famous for bringing through new players, like they did with Sadio (Mane) and Naby (Keita) – they've found a lot of others, too. It will be really interesting."
