How Jadon Sancho reacted to Dortmund transfer stance amid Manchester United interest

Jadon Sancho has no issues with staying at Borussia Dortmund amid interest from Manchester United, according to his teammate Roman Burki.

The 20-year-old is a priority target for the United who have been unable to reach an agreement with Dortmund so far this summer. Dortmund have repeatedly insisted Sancho will not leave the club this summer with club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke providing the latest update on his future.

Dortmund posted losses of £45million in their preliminary accounts for the 2019/20 season but Watzke insisted the club are under no pressure to cash in on Sancho.

He said: "We weren’t in a situation where we had to sell at any cost. Clubs noticed that too."

Sancho joined the Dortmund squad for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland and has impressed in their friendly matches against SCR Altach and Austria Wien.

Burki believes his teammate is happy to remain at the club for next season.

"I wasn’t 100 per cent expecting him to stay, but I hoped he would," he told Kicker when asked about Sancho.

"It has always been clear that you have to pay a certain amount of money to buy a player of his quality but because of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s not as easy for the clubs as it was before.

Have your say in our Man Utd fixtures survey:

"I don’t believe Jadon is sad that he will continue with Borussia Dortmund. He comes to training with a smile on his face and is happy to be with us.

"Jadon is still a top player next year. Time is not running out for him. Besides, he has developed as a personality.

"I am not aware of any current events that give cause for criticism. Jadon hasn’t done anything wrong in two-and-a-half weeks of pre-season so far."
