How Ivan Gazidis could ruin Arsenal and Unai Emery's summer transfer plans

Unai Emery is likely to be busy adding to his Arsenal squad this summer, despite reports of having a limited warchest.

Failure to beat Chelsea in the Europa League final and subsequently missing out on Champions League football for a third successive season means the Spaniard's transfer budget is reportedly set at £40m before player sales.

Although, that hasn't stopped links to several new players.

Whilst the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Wilfried Zaha and Thomas Meunier could be out of reach, the Gunners have reportedly a €42m bid for two Sampdoria players.

The two players in question are Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet.

The latter was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium last summer and had a release clause of €25m before renewing his contract earlier in the season, while the former could be the answer to the Gunners' defensive issues.

However, according to Tuttosport, that offer has been rejected.

And it gets worse for the north London outfit as Corriere dello Sport claim AC Milan - where Ivan Gazidis is now the chief executive - are interested in appointing Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo as a replacement for Gennaro Gattuso.

Should this happen then the Rossoneri could sign Andersen and Praet as a present to the new manager.

As a result, that would spoil Arsenal and Emery's plans this summer as they look to overhaul the playing squad on a shoestring budget and compete for a top four spot next season.
