How ITV2 Love Island's Michael Griffiths reacted to the winning couple

Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea were announced as the winners of Love Island 2019 , and the beautician's former flame, Liverpool firefighter Micheal Griffiths appeared to have a cryptic message for the happy couple.

The 27-year-old was watching live show in Brighton, when Caroline Flack declared Amber and Greg in first place.

Filming himself on Instagram, he jumped up and down on stage repeating "Oh s***! Oh s***!", before adding: "I did not expect that. Ratings, hey, ratings, ratings."

Amber and Greg win (ITV)

The winners of the ITV2 reality dating show are voted for by the public, who choose their favourites.

Amber had a rocky time in the villa, after coming back from Casa Amor to find Michael in the arms of another woman, Joanna.

She has spoken about how difficult it was for her, but told Michael how she still had feelings for him. He then gave her the cold shoulder, and the viewers did not like how he had treated Amber and he and Joanna found themselves in the bottom three couples a week ago.

The other Islanders chose to save him over Joanna, and after telling her he had "found what he was looking for" he didn't leave with Joanna and she called him a "snake".

He then told Amber again he had no interest in a romantic relationship, but then as soon as new boy Greg hit it off with Amber he said he did still like her, confusing the Gordie and the viewers.

But, Amber chose Greg in the recoupling and fans of the show hailed her as a hero, helping her bag the 50K with the professional rugby player.
