How ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid lost weight and toned up

When Susanna Reid was told by her doctor that she needed to lose weight she decided to do something about it.

While many will think the 48-year-old didn't need to shed the pounds, Susanna, who presents Good Morning Britain alongside Piers Morgan , made the decision to make simple changes to her lifestyle which resulted in a stone-and-a-half weight loss.

The mum-of-three had already lost some weight before she headed into see her GP, but she told Lorraine Kelly on her ITV breakfast show: "I went to a doctor. I just wanted to ask him about skin problems I had.

"And he said, 'well, I recommend two things, one is that you stop drinking, or cut down on drinking, and one is that you lose some weight because you're at the top end of your BMI (body mass index - calculated by using you weight and height)."

Lorraine, like many, told the broadcaster she couldn't believe she was at the top end for her BMI.

But Susanna said: "I think it can just creep up, can't it? Without you noticing.

"And actually, what I did was I cut out snacking. Because I find waking up so early in the morning, and you are in sort of energy deficit, and all your body can think of is 'just have toast', 'just have biscuits', you know? Calorie grabbing.

"And you can pile it on, really. So, I lost a stone and a half."

Susanna's lack of snacking, coupled with her love of running and keep fit classes meant that she toned up the healthy way.

Earlier this year she told Prima magazine : "I’d been feeling a little heavy for a while. I’ve lost a stone-and-a-half since then and I feel fantastic.”

*Good Morning Britain is on ITV1, every morning from 6am
