How Is PNC Financial’s Stock Performance Compared to Other Regional Banks?

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (PNC) specializes in providing banking and asset management services. With a market cap of $80.7 billion, PNC operates through retail banking, corporate & institutional banking, and asset management segments.

Companies worth $10 billion or more are generally described as “large-cap stocks.” PNC fits this bill perfectly. Given the company’s extensive operations and dominance in the regional banking industry, its valuation above this mark is unsurprising.

The banking giant touched its three-year high of $216.26 on Nov. 29, 2024, and is currently trading 4.1% below that peak. Meanwhile, PNC stock has soared 18.6% over the past three months, notably outpacing the iShares U.S. Regional Banks ETF’s (IAT16.4% gains during the same time frame.

To confirm the recent uptrend, PNC stock has traded consistently above its 50-day moving average since mid-May and above its 200-day moving average since late June.

The quarter was marked with strong loan books despite increased macro uncertainties.

The company’s overall topline for the quarter increased 4.6% year-over-year to $5.7 billion, surpassing the Street’s expectations by a notable margin. Furthermore, its EPS surged 13.6% year-over-year to $3.85, surpassing the consensus estimates by 8.2%.

Meanwhile, PNC Financial has also outperformed its peer, US Bancorp’s (USB2.8% uptick in 2025 and 6.8% gains over the past 52 weeks, with significant margins.
